We’ve recently shared a bit about Everything DiSC® certification on our blog. In order to understand more about the benefits of Everything DiSC® as a participant, it’s important to look deeper into the Catalyst™ Platform by Wiley.
This e-learning platform is the hub for Everything DiSC®. It’s a virtual learning platform that acts as your single access point for what you learn and how to apply it.
If you didn’t know, we really love e-learning platforms. We did a blog last year talking about all the benefits of them for your business.
That’s why we want to dive in a bit more to help you understand the specifics of what’s available on Catalyst™ and why we think it will help your business.
Have you ever completed an assessment and then felt like you got a result, but don’t really know what it means? Sometimes we’re assigned these descriptions of ourselves and don’t get to dive deeper into how these characteristics actually show up. It’s just a one-and-done thing. It might be fun for everyone to do, but no one applies it or thinks about it after the assessment is finished.
With the Catalyst™ platform, you’ll be able to listen to a podcast that describes your style in more detail. You can come back to it for reference at any time. That means if you forget what style you have or what it means, you have a space to remember and reflect on that.
You can even access the platform on your mobile phone. That means you can take the information with you and easily remind yourself of what your style is and how you interact with others, even plan to improve your interaction.
One of the biggest benefits of Everything DiSC® is that you can understand more about how you interact with your team. Within the Catalyst™ platform, you can see your teammates’ results. There are descriptions of what interactions between you and someone else might be like.
That includes tips and strategies for how to better collaborate and communicate with someone. You’ll be able to build stronger relationships with your coworkers, get more done as a group, and build a culture that acknowledges and embraces your differences.
Aside from seeing how you tend to interact with others, you can also get a view of your team’s overall culture. This can help identify where there might be blind spots and what some of your team’s biggest advantages are.
Another benefit of the Catalyst™ platform is that you have access to additional assessments. You don’t need to switch to a different learning space or answer the same questions over and over again. Catalyst™ actually builds on top of the work you’ve already done to create a comprehensive profile of your work and communication.
Once you you get access to the Catalyst™ platform, you can add Agile EQ™. This is a virtual classroom that helps you develop the emotional intelligence that’s needed for an agile culture.
You’ll get to understand more about your emotional intelligence strengths and weaknesses as well as strategies to improve your EQ.
The great thing about having this available along with your Everything DiSC® information is that you’ll be able to combine the insights of your personal profile with the agile approach. The two don’t have to be siloed into separate areas. In fact, they should be working together to build a better work environment.
Why Everything DiSC® vs. Others?
As we mentioned earlier, we’ve shared some information on the benefits of Everything DiSC® in our previous blog, and now, we’ve talked about why we love the Catalyst™ e-learning platform that comes with it. However, you might be wondering what makes it different from other assessment tools.
The Predictive Index (PI) is another type of assessment tool that some businesses use. It’s specifically meant for understanding cognitive abilities. While that can be helpful to know if someone can keep up with a fast-paced environment, it doesn’t paint the whole picture of an individual. In fact, many different types of people can keep up with fast-paced environments given the proper tools and when collaborating with the right people. The PI doesn’t give as much feedback on the team interaction pieces that are really vital to workplace culture.
Some people use Insights as an add-on to the Everything DiSC® assessments. While this may be helpful for some, it’s not necessary for a productive learning experience. Insights focuses on increasing your effectiveness as an individual, team, organization, leader, and with sales. While it can be helpful to look through all these different areas, you do get similar information from a clear understanding of the Everything DiSC® assessment.
